Pellica vs Film Logbook.

Film Logbook is a clean, focused iPhone tracker from an independent developer. Pellica covers the same per-frame logging and adds a built-in light meter, a lab map, scan matching, and an Android app.

◉ The short version

Pick Pellica if: you want an Android app, a built-in light meter and lab finder in the same place, and one log that syncs across an iPhone and an Android phone.

Pick Film Logbook if: you are iPhone-only, want a spare, no-frills tracker from a solo developer, and value JSON export and per-frame reference images.

Migration notes · frame 03

Switching from Film Logbook

Film Logbook exports clean PDF and JSON, so bringing your history into Pellica is straightforward.

01

In Film Logbook, export your data (PDF for reading, JSON for the full record). If you keep a CSV, that works too.

02

In Pellica, open Settings → Import and load your file. Frame numbers, film stock, exposure settings, dates, notes, and any tagged frames map across; missing fields are flagged for review, not dropped.

03

From there, meter with Pellica’s built-in light meter, log frames in one tap, and use the lab map to find a developer near you — all in the same app.

Respect to Film Logbook — it is honest, fast software. If a JSON export does not import cleanly, email [email protected] and we will map it by hand.

When Film Logbook is the better choice

Film Logbook is a well-kept, single-purpose tracker. Pick it over Pellica when:

You shoot only on an iPhone and want the leanest possible logbook, with no features you will not use.

You want a plain JSON export you fully own and can archive anywhere — Film Logbook writes both PDF and JSON as of July 2026.

You like attaching a reference image to individual frames and tagging keepers, mistakes, or experiments the way Film Logbook does.

You prefer backing one indie developer’s focused app over a broader toolkit, and an Android version does not matter to you.

Straight answers.

Is there an Android version of Film Logbook?

No. Film Logbook runs on iPhone (and Apple Vision) only as of July 2026, with no Android app. Pellica offers the same per-frame film logging on both iOS and Android, so you can switch phones without losing your log.

How much does Film Logbook cost?

Film Logbook is free with in-app purchases: a Pro unlock at $4.99 and optional tips as of July 2026, per its App Store listing. Pellica is also free, with an optional Pro plan at €4.99 per month, €34.99 per year, or €129.99 lifetime.

Does Film Logbook include a light meter?

Film Logbook lets you record a meter reading against each frame, but it does not measure light itself. Pellica has a built-in incident and reflected light meter in the free tier, so you can meter with your phone and log the result in one step.
