An app built by film shooters, for film shooters.
Pellica started in a notebook. Then a spreadsheet. Then a hacky iOS shortcut. Then a real app, because every photographer we know was losing the exposure data for half their rolls. We built the tool we wanted to use.
Who
Pellica is built by a solo independent developer — a software engineer and film photographer shooting 35mm and 120 for over a decade. No company, no VC funding, no data sales, no ads. Just one person shipping an app that gets better one release at a time.
Why
Analog photography is enjoying a real revival — over 300 new film labs opened in 2025 alone, and Kodak, Ilford, and Fujifilm are all running their lines at capacity. But the digital tools around the analog process are mostly afterthoughts: clunky logs, expensive light meters with bad UX, scattered lab directories. Pellica is one well- designed app that handles the whole pipeline — log every shot in 1 tap, meter the light with a built-in calibrated meter, and find a lab from a community-maintained map of 1,700+ developers in 48+ countries.
Where your data lives
Everything you log is saved on your phone first, so Pellica works with no signal, and backed up to your account on our servers in the EU, so you can change phones without losing a roll. No ads, and your data is never sold. The app measures which features get used and reports crashes so we know what to fix; the website uses one analytics tool, EU-hosted, which only counts visits anonymously, without cookies, until you accept the cookie banner. Our full privacy policy lists every service involved.
How we make money
The free tier covers everything most film shooters need: 1-tap exposure logging, the built-in light meter, the lab map, exports. Pellica Pro (€4.99/month, €34.99/year, or €129.99 lifetime) adds unlimited rolls and projects, and automatic scan-to-frame matching (OCR + EXIF). That's it. See the full breakdown on the pricing page.
